Right from the outset, the Castle chapel was dedicated to St John the Baptist.
Despite being a private oratory, we know that the inhabitants of Torredembarra were extremely devoted to it, which led them to petition the Archbishop to declare it as a public venue in the late eighteenth century.
We know that this process was definitely concluded by 12 January 1581, when Francesca d’Icart Carcasona, the daughter of the lord of Torredembarra, married Dalmau de RocabertĂ.
